“Blade,” “Thunderbolts*” Filming Talk

This Memorial Day weekend has been notably quiet on the news front, allowing some circulating rumors to gain traction.

First, DanielRPK reports that Marvel Studios is in search of a new writer for "Blade," signaling yet another significant script overhaul. According to the scooper, Marvel has finally solidified the overarching story. The next step involves refining the script, with filming expected to proceed later this year in Mexico or Brazil.

Since its announcement in mid-2019, "Blade" has cycled through multiple directors and writers. Among them are Nic Pizzolatto, Michael Green, Beau DeMayo, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, and Michael Starrbury. A casting call has been issued for the film's main male villain, though specific character details remain undisclosed. Aaron Pierre recently stepped down from a villain role.

Directed by Yann Demange, "Blade" is still slated for release in November 2025. If filming begins this Fall, the movie might meet its release date. However, given Marvel's already packed 2025 schedule, a delay to 2026 is plausible.

Additionally, DanielRPK mentions that Marvel is also seeking a writer and director for a fifth "Thor" film, planned to begin shooting in Fall 2025.

In other news, scooper Alex Perez, via CBM, suggests that Marvel’s "Thunderbolts*" film will function more as a sequel to "Black Widow" than a traditional team-up movie. Described as similar to how "Civil War" was a sequel to "Captain America," the story involves Yelena dealing with Red Room remnants before being diverted to the Thunderbolts*.

Given the presence of three characters from "Black Widow" in "Thunderbolts*," the connection between the two films is unsurprising. The involvement of Bucky and U.S. Agent also indicates strong ties to "The Falcon and The Winter Soldier."

These developments hint at exciting projects ahead, despite the current quiet period.
