Ali, attached to "Blade" since 2019, envisioned the project as his "Black Panther," an opportunity to leave a significant cultural impact. The turnover in directors has been equally dynamic. Ali’s dissatisfaction with the initial list of directors led him to handpick Demange. However, Demange's departure has left Marvel searching once again, emphasizing the challenges of finding the right creative fit for such a high-stakes project.

Despite the setbacks, Marvel is not backing down. The plan is to have a finalized script by summer, followed by another search for a director. The hope is that this process will finally bring "Blade" out of development hell and onto the big screen.

As he noted, "It doesn’t matter how well-known the character is, it matters how cool the movie is."
