John Krasinski And Matthew Rhys To Lead Amazon’s New Serial Killer Drama, "Silent River"

Amazon Prime Video has officially ordered Silent River, a psychological drama starring John Krasinski and Matthew Rhys. The series promises a gripping dive into small-town America, unraveling dark secrets and uncovering the connections between two men tied to a chilling serial killer case.

A Dynamic Team of Stars and Creators

Krasinski, celebrated for his roles in The Office and A Quiet Place, will not only star but also direct the pilot and additional episodes. Rhys, known for his Emmy-winning performance in The Americans, will join him as co-star and executive producer. The series is a collaboration under Krasinski and Allyson Seeger’s Sunday Night production banner, which recently renewed its first-look TV deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

Aaron Rabin, the series creator, brings his expertise from working on Jack Ryan to Silent River. Alongside Rabin, Andrew Bernstein will serve as director and executive producer, adding his experience from The Americans. Sunday Night’s team, including Seeger and Alexa Ginsburg, will also produce alongside Krasinski.

A Tale of Suspense and Connection

The series is described as exploring “the cracks of small-town America in the wake of discovering a serial killer among them.” Through the intertwined lives of the two protagonists, Silent River promises a layered narrative that combines psychological intrigue with emotional depth. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, emphasized the show’s potential to captivate a global audience with its thought-provoking themes and suspenseful storytelling.

Expanding Krasinski’s Legacy at Amazon

This marks a continued partnership between Krasinski’s Sunday Night and Amazon. Krasinski previously starred in and produced Amazon’s hit series Jack Ryan, which recently concluded its fourth season. A Jack Ryan film is also in development, with Krasinski reprising his role and Rabin and Bernstein contributing to its production.

Krasinski has built a reputation as a creative powerhouse, balancing acting, directing, and producing. From the success of A Quiet Place to his earlier ventures in film and television, his work consistently draws critical acclaim and audience engagement.

Rhys Brings Star Power

Matthew Rhys, acclaimed for his nuanced performances, brings additional gravitas to the project. Having starred in projects like The Americans and Perry Mason, Rhys is no stranger to complex, layered roles. His collaboration with Krasinski sets the stage for a dynamic on-screen pairing.
What to Expect from Silent River

Silent River is poised to blend small-town Americana with the tension of a psychological thriller. With a stellar cast and a proven creative team, the series is likely to become a standout in Amazon’s growing lineup of original content.
