'The Madison:' Everything We Know About The New 'Yellowstone' Spin-off

Will It Connect To Yellowstone Characters?

Yellowstone fans, the era of the Dutton family is nearing its end, but there's a new chapter on the horizon. According to TVLine, another Yellowstone spin-off is in development. The series, titled The Madison, reportedly stars Michelle Pfeiffer (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania) as newcomer Stacy Clyburn, alongside Kurt Russell (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters), Patrick J. Adams (Suits), and Beau Garrett (The Good Doctor). The Madison will follow the Clyburn family, led by matriarch Stacy, as they head to Montana from New York City in the wake of her husband’s death.

The Cast and Characters

Michelle Pfeiffer takes on the role of Stacy Clyburn, the matriarch of the Clyburn family. Stacy, after losing her husband, decides to move her family from the bustling streets of New York City to the serene landscapes of Montana. Kurt Russell joins as another leading character, though details about his role remain under wraps. Patrick J. Adams and Beau Garrett also add to the star-studded lineup, promising a strong ensemble cast.

The Plot

The Madison centers around the Clyburn family as they transition from urban life to the rural expanse of Montana. This dramatic shift sets the stage for a series filled with new challenges, personal growth, and the exploration of family dynamics in the face of grief and change. The narrative promises to weave the complexity and depth familiar to Yellowstone fans while introducing fresh perspectives and conflicts.

Connection to the Yellowstone Universe

If Taylor Sheridan is indeed expanding the Yellowstone universe with The Madison, it opens up intriguing possibilities. Previously, Paramount announced a sequel series to Yellowstone, titled 2024, featuring Matthew McConaughey. Rumors suggested that Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly, and Luke Grimes might reprise their roles as Rip Wheeler, Beth Dutton, and Kayce Dutton, respectively. However, Paramount has not commented on The Madison or the status of 2024.

What’s Next for Yellowstone Fans?

For fans, the future of Yellowstone is in dire need of clarity. Ever since Kevin Costner departed from the project due to an ongoing feud with Sheridan, the direction of the franchise has been uncertain. Yellowstone season 5 ended abruptly—and on a cliffhanger!—on New Year’s Day 2023. Costner has since focused on his western film series titled Horizon, leaving Paramount with the task of determining the next steps for the Dutton saga.

Currently, two paths seem plausible: either The Madison is replacing Paramount’s plans for 2024, or it will air alongside it. It's also possible that The Madison might not connect to Yellowstone at all. According to Puck’s Matthew Belloni, the new series “will likely (but not for sure)” exist in the Yellowstone universe. Unlike the Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, Sheridan’s other shows—including Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness, and Bass Reeves—have not connected to the Dutton family.

Release and Production

Season 5B of Yellowstone is expected to premiere on November 10, marking the end of the Dutton saga in the flagship series. The story, however, is set to continue in another form. TVLine reports that production on The Madison is slated to begin later this month, with a tentative premiere in 2025. If everything proceeds as reported, fans should prepare to meet the Clyburns soon.

As we await official confirmations and further details, the anticipation for The Madison and its place in the Yellowstone universe continues to build. Will it carry the legacy of the Duttons forward, or carve out a new path entirely? Only time will tell.

Conclusion

The expansion of the Yellowstone universe with The Madison brings both excitement and curiosity. With a compelling cast and a fresh storyline, the series promises to be a worthy addition to Taylor Sheridan's rich tapestry of narratives. Stay tuned for more updates as production progresses and we inch closer to the premiere.
